In its original conception as an event, #ABWchopped started out as a fun way for fellow passionate chefs working at ABW to flex their culinary chops and compete against one another showcasing our high-end luxury equipment in the process.
Cooking is more than just simply “making food.” As a young man growing up, not just admiring the culinary arts, but pursuing a degree in the hospitality industry, it became apparent that cooking was a way of conveying emotion-showing your love and passion for the art that is modern cuisine. When joining the ABW team, it has become clear that the passion for cooking could bring a new experience to the sales floor when discussing purchases with clients and provide them with demonstrations during the appliance selection process.
What better way to continue this concept than by inviting our trade partners and valued clients into the showroom so they could witness the energy and sheer chaos that is the Chopped competition, and watch it all live on equipment that they or their clients were interested in purchasing?
Word got around and the second year the event was twice as large as the first. When it came time to plan September 2015’s event, a member of the ABW family had an idea: if we can bring many people together for something, why not use it as an opportunity to raise money for charity? That is how “Chopped for Charity” was born. From charging a small admission fee, auctioning off a few items, a 50/50 raffle, and ABW’s Signature Nightcap “Step Forward For A Cause”, the 3rd Chopped Challenge raised $10,000 that was split between the two winning chef’s charity of choice.
We are so proud to promote this event for the fourth year, and further our passion not just for cooking, not just for Appliances “A Better Way,” but to help make a difference in our community (and having fun while doing it).
