ABW’s Cupcake Wars for Charity Raised $9,500
Throughout the year ABW Appliances sponsors cooking competitions for charity. The competitions bring awareness to local issues and raise money for charity. Our showroom becomes a stage for an evening of goodwill and friendly competition. The teams who compete are not only cooking for boasting rights but also to win for their chosen charity.
Our most recent charity cooking challenge, Cupcake Wars, raised $9,500! Each team baked five dozen cupcakes in our luxury ranges and ovens. Guest judges, included Lauren Katz winner of ABC Great Holiday Baking Show. Each cake received points for taste, originality, and presentation. Cupcake Diva’s was the winner with their beautiful Happy Spring cupcake.
Thao Tambunan explained why she chose House of Ruth, “I wanted a local charity, and I previously worked on the CFL campaign, and I support the cause to help women.” ABW’s Brooke Chandler, added, “We make a living by what you get, but we make a life by what we give. I am so fortunate to work someplace that recognizes both sides of this equation and enables their employees to make a difference in the community. Meeting the compassionate people who work for House of Ruth yesterday not only reminded us all to be so thankful for our many blessings in life, but to be thankful for those who reach out to help those that are struggling, no matter what the reason may be.” Stephanie Covey, House of Ruth Development Officer, expressed her appreciation for the donation. ABW Appliances looks forward to our next charity cooking challenge, Chopped for Charity! This challenge brings stiff competition. Viking Range has announced celebrity Chef Joe Arvin will be on their team.
