On a chilly Saturday night in March, ABW was honored to partner with the National Cathedral School and help support their annual Spring Benefit.  The NCS is an amazing academic institution that believes in preparing “their girls” for the world in hopes that they will, in turn, go out and change it.  Committed to ensuring a diverse environment, the scholarship money raised goes to young ladies that otherwise would not have had the opportunity to receive the quality education the National Cathedral School provides.

The benefit was held inside the National Cathedral, transforming the space into an elegant dining space with colorful up-lighting and beautiful gold accents.  The perimeter was draped in festive strings of lights, making space feel like a promenade on a summer night. All of the silent auction items (items varying from  a “backstage” screening for Pardon the Interruption-a well known sports show on ESPN, to baskets of wine from around the world and anything you can imagine in between!) were laid out and categorized along the promenade and laid out in an auction app, allowing participants to go digital with their silent bidding!  Guests were greeted at the Broadway-themed affair with characters from Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast and Wicked singing to the tune of “Be Our Guest” as they walked the red carpet. After being offered a glass of champagne by the character Belle and her hoop skirt with hooks to hold the glasses, guests were ushered over to the NCS nature wall and backdrop, to be photographed before the night began.

After cocktails and socializing, guests enjoyed an elegant three-course meal and wine pairing. NCS team spoke of their causes and why this night was so important to all of them. Then, the highlight of the night: The live auction! Front row seats to a Taylor Swift concert and an afternoon lunch at the Australian Embassy were among some of the amazing items that were auctioned off that night.

ABW was honored to have donated a Liebherr wine cellar, top of the line in wine preservation that can hold up to 46 bottles! The unit was filled with exotic bottles of wine both from ABW and a “wine drive” that had been held a few weeks ago by the school. We were thrilled that the unit was “sold” for such a generous amount, with all of the proceeds going to the school and its scholarship fund! Throughout the night, ABW also had our mobile Miele coffee bar active at the entrance, filling the space with the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and offering patrons a little warm up on a cold night. Thank you to the team from NCS for inviting us to participate in this wonderful event. Without our community, ABW would never have been able to grow as much as we have in the past few years, and it’s our honor to continue to try to find ways to give back.
